Local Information
The TQFT Spring School will be held at Dalhousie University, in Halifax, NS, Canada. Dalhousie University is in Mi'kma'ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq.
Getting here
Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) is a 30-minute drive from campus and has direct flights from Toronto and some international cities. Taxis or Ubers are available from the airport, and it is also possible to take a bus. Bus routes start with the 320 bus to Barrington St, Halifax.
Housing
We will be able to cover up to five nights of housing: Sunday, May 17, to Thursday, May 21. Official programming will run from 9 AM Monday morning to 12 PM Friday afternoon. Participants should plan to arrive on Sunday and depart either Friday afternoon or evening.
Students will be in single rooms at Risley Hall on Dalhousie campus. Bed linen, towels, high-speed internet, and a daily membership to the Dalplex fitness facility are included. Check-in time is 3 PM, and check-out time is 10:30 AM. Luggage can be stored at the front desk.
Lecture Hall
Lectures will be held in the Marion McCain Arts &r; Social Sciences Building in Seminar Room 2118. This is a 2-minute walk from the Risley Hall accommodation.
Food
On-campus food options include Tart and Soul Cafe, Chef in the Kitchen, Mezza Lebanese Kitchen, Tasty Kitchen, and Zoca. There are many more restaurants and grocery/convenience stores within walking distance of campus.
Maritime Weather
May in Halifax is the start of spring. Daytime highs are typically in the range from 10C to 15C (50-60F), with nighttime lows typically between 5C and 8C (40-46F). Some rain is likely.

Halifax is in Atlantic Time Zone, one hour east of New York City.
Halifax Attractions
The School schedule includes free afternoons each day. Halifax has a nice waterfront, Citadel Hill, public gardens, and many shops and cafes within walking distance from campus.
